Discussed Vote No! on the Local Taxpayer Deception Act Ballot Measure, November 3, 2026

Key points included:

It limits the ability of voters to raise revenues for local government service initiatives

Changes requirement for passage from majority rule, to the need for 2/3rds of votes to pass

Limits transfer tax for Charter Cities (like Fresno)

Overturns previously voter approved measures

If election were held today 57% would vote NO!

They claim it protects taxpayers, and closes loopholes.  It really means it takes power away from voters, cuts funding for local services and limits voice of majority.

Funders of the measure include Peter Thiel, Douglas Emmett, Brookfield Property
