Here we are, another month closer to the election and what a difference a month can make. Donald Trump has now been crowned the Republican nominee for President. Not long ago, many were laughing at his candidacy and predicting that it would never happen. We were also expecting that the Democratic race would be wrapped up by now. How wrong the prognosticators were! We have all been told every four years that it is the most important election of our lives. This time I think it finally is, as the country is on the brink of electing someone who is clearly unqualified and temperamentally unfit for the Presidency. All thoughtful Americans need to come together to make sure that Trump is not elected. This means overcoming dissention and divisiveness among the Democrats and working together to get our presidential candidate elected as well as state and local candidates who can support the programs and policies of our party. Walking precincts, phone banking, or volunteering in crucial races are things all of us can do. If you need help connecting with campaigns, please contact any officer in the club.
Finally, for those of you living in Board of Supervisors District 2 or knowing any registered Democrats who do, please be aware that I am running for the Fresno County Democratic Central Committee, the entity that runs the local Democratic Party. I ask for your vote and that you consider the candidates running with me. The list can be found at www.facebook.com/District.2.Dems. Jeni

Bill McEwen
Our April meeting featured a presentation by Bill McEwen, a veteran of 35 years with the Fresno Bee and most recently the Opinion Page editor. One of the Bee’s most well known personalities, he provided us with fascinating insights into the editorial process as it applies to the five McClatchy news publications in California.
